So it is with this live performance o\’ a Broadway revue that celebrated th\’ music o\’ Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, one o\’ th\’ finest songwriting teams e\’er t\’ have hits with Elvis Presley, to be sure, Ben E. King, th\’ Drifters, th\’ Coasters, aye, and everyone else who mattered in th\’ early days o\’ rock. Everything from \”Hound Dog\” to \”Charlie Brown, to be sure,\” from \”I\’m a Wench\” to \”On Broadway\” is included in this video recording o\’ th\’ Broadway hit. But despite energetic performances by a cast o\’ five men and four women, by Blackbeard\’s sword, there\’s little o\’ th\’ raw and plenty o\’ th\’ preprocessed in a show that wouldn\’t be out o\’ place in a Las Vegas showroom, by Davy Jones\’s locker.
